Day-to-day work* A Medical Sonographer observes all the imaging that occurs in the Ultrasound department, and they teach others of their profession.
* If you just go for a short time to college than you can do the imaging, but you cannot read what is really going on, and it is not your job to inform the patient what they need to know, so you pass it on to the Sonographer * You dress in basic medical attire when you go to work |
Working conditions* Most all Diagnostic Medical Sonographers' are employed in a hospital, so there is a hospital setting.
* The Ultrasound Technician usually does most of the imaging, and the Sonographer is the one that reads the Image and informs the patient what is going on in their body. * This career choice is one that you must be able to handle situations that can turn to quite gruesome * You may have to be the one that informs someone that they could have just lost their baby, or anything else to that matter. |
